livestream doodles

Left to right, top to bottom: Noah with his hands clasped at a pew; supposed to be a friend's character, but his nose needs some working on; Beauty, my amputated demon; Doris, who is one of the few of his kind left; a man with a hook through his tongue and whose arms were cut from him; a happy octopus! with a bow tie!; someone genuinely happy, an experiment with highlights.

I went on Livestream today for the first time in months and it felt kind of good. I guess. It's certainly given me a lot to reflect on.

So as not to scare the ever living fuck out of my audience, I warned them I would be drawing guro. And someone asked me, why would I even do that? It got me thinking, huh, yeah. Why do I draw guro anyway?

I spent the afternoon considering this carefully, because god knows I couldn't find the right words to express myself to that person. That is, without sounding like a lunatic. No, "because I like it" is not a valid reason. I find guro particularly calming to draw for me because it's violently cathartic. You can tap into your deepest most violent feelings and just sink your hands into them, tear each and every gut out until the hurting stops. Alas, if we could only put them back together, eh. But I think that's why art is such a wonderful outlet for guro, and catharsis in general. No one literally gets hurt, and you don't need to apologize for simply feeling.

it is both sweet and crackerific

Today's post is brought to us by Photobucket. For some reason, Blogger's uploader is being weird to me.

Agatha Leighton and Latryst du Ames of The B Trilogy, written by The Autumn Poet. Agatha belongs to her, Lace belongs to me, but together they are the cutest damn couple. Mortal girl falls in love with not-quite-vampire immortal who hates the sun for his awful tendency to heatstroke. Poor darling.

I did some playing around with my The Mourning Son boys (but alas, not in the sense of writey). Clockwise, starting from top left: Honor and Joshua, dressed up as a Bond girl and James Bond respectively; I hate to admit it but Honor is fucking hot in that dress. Honor (not so) begrudgingly gives Apostle a blow job. Isagani, resident priest and sayer of wise things, proving to all of us that he is really not a very good priest and that he really really likes torturing people a la Inquisition. And last but not the least, Elias who is doing his own version of Honor's ball gag picture and really doesn't seem very scared of what nasty things Isagani can do to him (or maybe he's just not aware right now).

Remember the Xenogears/Vagrant Story fanart I drew based on a fanfic? I started painting that. I am particularly proud of how Grissom's gloves are turning out right now, but Billy is a little meh to me. I'll keep painting, I guess and see what happens.

Twitterfeed?

Testing if this works! :)

Edit: And apparently, it does. Most excellent.

The Mourning Son is one of those projects that will never get off my brain. I'm not sure if this is a good thing but I'm certainly happy to appease the muse. Here're a few The Mourning Son related things I've been dicking around with.

NSFW. The image that launched the ship. Unfinished because I cannot draw guns to save my life.

Honor's reference sheet which is a work in progress, complete with attire (with jacket, without jacket and in underwear respectively) and even  the different hairstyles (regular - slicked back, at home - uncombed, and formal - paper pusher),

Earlier this year, I did a lot of sketches for TMS, and recently I decided to color them in. Here's a sneak preview of that.

yes, blog maintenance happens

I know what you're thinking. WHAT? MAINTENANCE? What the fuckery is this?!

It is true, friends. Blog maintenance does happen. I've been dicking around in my FAQs page, my About Me  page and my Contact Me section, so they don't look very lonely over there. I've also been trying to find ways to keep my LJ list happy as well as my blogspot. (Read as: Importing my entries hither and tither. Still reading up on my alternatives.) Still haven't found the perfect cure but I'm getting there!

Please bear with me while I continue to tinker with my blog. :) for those of you curious about how I am doing this year with NaNoWriMo, look no further.

Not doing very good though! I should be working harder :D Got big dreams to get this thing (which still needs a proper title!) done and ready for a beta-reading by December 2010. Hey, no one said it wasn't possible.

taking a break from NaNoWriMo to bring you an update, kind of

Yeahhh, um, hi guys! Sorry for the lack of updates. Life got kind of crazy for me for a bit! Work stuff which eventually transformed itself into my current job as a research assistant for a Bullying and Peer Violence study. It's a topic that's really dear to my heart and something I really want to look into when I get my Masters in Social Psych.

Anyway, NaNo has been doing good, if not a little slow. I am derp all over the place, sometimes stopping to do so much research. The amazing things you find on the internet about the Aztecs and the indigenous Filipino cultures. <3

Anyway, here's something to tide you over until I get the real time to draw something up. These files have been gathering dust in my folders.

Alexandra Morgan, who has gone from just really tall and big-boned to plus size in the 8 or so years I've been drawing her.

Man, this thing is old. I drew this when I first got Paint Tool SAI, in early-2009 I believe, but could never finish it due to my desktop Rho having pathetic RAM. So whenever I did open this file, it would crash. I'll sit down one day to finish this comic, which is an adorable little thing about Julian Isaias, world renowned novelist and professor, crushing really badly on hotelier Dylan Montgomery.

Sirius Isaias, Julian's older brother, who really needs a color job.

Zeraphiel is a wolf/fox demon and he's really pretty. Up until that point where someone gouges his right eye out and uses that to bind him to servitude.

One of my favorite sketches of Cindre and his Prince. See, I can draw porn after all! \o/

what is human anyway

Balthazar being a charming bastard. Dear lord, he's humongous by human standards.

I finally have a design I like for Tempest's eyes. :D They're supposed to run down his back, his chest and his arms though. I'll work on that on the next image I have, as well as pronouncing his bottom jaw to emphasize bite power.

Yoloxochitl's coloring. She's such a lovely lady.

*W*

why hello there sexy lady~

I am totally in love with Yoloxochitl's body. She's lean and she's curvy and she can and will rip your organs out of your belly if you so much as mess with her. Oh, and she enjoys reading, poetry and the occasional romancing.

Even if it's from a building-tall killing machine.

Did I mention she's nearly 6 feet tall?
