HAPPY NEW YEAR, from Futureland

Wishing all of you a safe and happy shiny new year! I spent my countdown to New Year's working on a commission 8D What a way to start 2011 eh?

Have fun you crazy kids! Don't forget to check out the Commission Me page, which I have finally gotten around to updating! Haha, better late than never!

Dorothy of CrimsonKiss89's novel Vestige.
A work in progress.
Finishing up this painting of CrimsonKiss89's Dorothy! This character's been so easy to work with and it was certainly fun trying to capture Evangeline Lilly's likeness.

show me your teeth

As most of you know, I'll be joining this year's NaNoWriMo with a story about a post-Apocalyptic world where a monster and a human meet and fall in love. Come on, you know it's romantic. Monster meets human, human tries to kill monster, monster kind of wants to eat human.

Been putzing around with designs, so here's our leading hero, the monster.

His base painting was kind of bland as I just got it down right after work. No real idea of what I wanted except for TEETH TEETH TEETH.

Did some scale roughs. That human is TINY in his hands. Also a vague idea of what I wanted for full body design. Not really happy with that and still working on it. He's supposed to be climbing a mountain or a rockface in that right doodle, just in case you're wondering why he's being all \\\o///

Most recent shot of the image. Yes, I'm pretty proud of this one. Planning to remove the hair/muscle/bandages soon and replacing it with so many eyes. Aiming to have at least thirty eyes on his head alone.

Got some doodles done of the leading lady, who is a female knight with a split tongue. Have I ever told you how messy my creative process and story building process is? I have no idea what the story really is about until I get down and write it.

my religion is you - redux (wip)

My first try at digital painting was five months ago with the piece My Religion Is You (obligatory dA link). With the stress of working and the need to have a little time for myself, I decided to repaint this bad boy.

I popped open the original PSD and brought it into SAI to work on. I am really more comfortable working in SAI and even fudged around some to actually configure a textured brush. Most excellent. Repainting taught me a lot about my work, especially about how I am so heavily influenced by anime and how it's making it difficult for me to break away.

In closing, Honor is still pissed he's tied up like this. But it's so liberating, can anyone blame him for coming back?

blogwarming post

Hello internet! I have finally opened a sketch blog. I hope to be able to update this regularly. I'll be posting WIPs of my images here, while the finished ones go on either deviantART or Y-gallery. Lots of images today to get this blog all warmed up.

A group picture in progress of my characters from my novel-in-progress The Mourning Son. There are actually 13 characters in total in the whole image (yes, this is only a crop of that). Left to right, Lisa Ngo, Noah Martelino (our protagonist), Eric Hermoso, Moses Martelino, Joshua Martelino and Anne Martelino.

A running gag of Noah as a unicorn boy. Seriously.

Concept work for a Godhand, a sacred relic, that appears in the last book of The Mourning Son series. It's called Mustafia.

Genderswitch of one of the characters from The Mourning Son.

Concept work of Book 1's cover. :3 Eventually it will be all dark grays and dull reds.

Concept work for a promotional poster of The Mourning Son. Believe me when I say the roses were a killer. @_@
